The Seventh-day Adventist Church has a special mission to preach the good news of salvation to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people (Revelation 14:6). In reaching people from various backgrounds, we are reminded that “lessons must be given in the language of humanity” (The Desire of Ages, p. 34). For this reason, the General Conference Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department has initiated the Reaching & Winning series of courses on world religions.
The New Age is an umbrella term that covers a range of interests, beliefs, and practices, including self-awareness of the god within, nature worship, and reincarnation. According to astrologers, the dawning of the millennium will bring enlightenment that promises peace, harmony, and prosperity. Consequently, this New Age utopian mirage has captured the imagination of many would-be seekers of truth and wisdom.
This course is to be taught in four classes. Each class is planned to be between one and half and two hours in length, including small-group sessions. It may also be studied personally.
